The Côte d'Azur was the first virtual hike I completed. The medal is absolutely gorgeous. I thought it would be appropriate to be the location of the first virtual hike paintout as well. Unfortunately... every painting I did was worse than the last. There's no way I wanted to publish any of them. But I also didn't want to give up on this wonderful location. I decided to give it one more go, and whatever I ended up with, that's what I would use for this blog, regardless.In the end, I'm not unhappy with it. It represents all kinds of experimentation, and even a little bit of editorializing, which I don't typically do in a painting (I'm very literal). On top of these very old buildings I added a little veneer of frivolity, which strikes me as appropriate for a playground of the rich and famous. Please enjoy the horrible paintings I did first:
