Wow, it's been a long time since I posted! Almost a year, yikes. I haven't painted in so long that I had no idea what would happen when I picked up a brush this week. So it was a pleasant surprise that this painting turned out so well–I like it, anyway. I worked from a photo I took a year or two ago—House Creek on the grounds of the NCMA park. I've gotten a lot of good paintings from that place.

I painted on a black gessoed canvas, which is always a favorite technique for me. If my goal for a painting is color, somehow that dark ground helps me find it.
