Greece

Well, it's been a minute, hasn't it?

Looks like the last time I painted something was February of 2023, and that was a remake of an earlier painting. And before that, August 2021.

Enough of the past! This painting – 6"x6", oil on board – is somewhere in Greece, between Marathon and Athens. A gorgeous area.

I won’t lie, it was a struggle to paint. Not surprising since I’m so rusty. I also discovered that most of my paints have become very gummy; it was like working with tar. I’ll get some new paint before the next painting.

Yes, there will be a next painting! I miss The Virtual Paintout so much, I’m kind of resurrecting it, after a fashion. I hope Bill won’t mind. See below:

Virtual Hikes

I started doing Conqueror virtual hikes in 2020, and this is one of the first I completed – the famous route, Marathon to Athens. I did a LOT of virtual hikes, and daily walking has been my new normal for five years. I love it.

Shameless plug: if you’re interested in purchasing a hike, use this link and we each get a discount.

You can paint too!

All skill levels welcome 😀

You can join in with your own Marathon-to-Athens virtual painting! Paint anywhere along the route between the two cities and anywhere in Athens (feel free to roam off the highways). Use a scene found through Google Street View as the reference for the painting or drawing – not a user photo or photo from another source. Email me a JPEG or PNG at:

marla9876@outlook.com

and I’ll post it here! Please include your name and the link to the Google street view. Put Virtual Hike in the subject line. Include a link to your own blog if you wish.

I’ll leave this post up until the end of January; after that I hope to post monthly. So check back February 1.

You can get the street view link like this:
