Tide Pools

9"x12" oil on hardboard

[sold]

We've had unusually high tides recently - this was a week before the full moon, and the water was all the way to the bottom of the beach stairs. The receding tide left gorgeous tide pools all along the beach, some just a few inches deep, some a foot or so.

    1. Thanks so much Linda! I always have time to read compliments :)

I'll be getting back to the Starts soon. Doing those studies has really helped me a lot - in some ways, quantity is actually more important than quality. I need as much practice as I can get.

  2. Marla, I admired this when I saw it on Daily Paintworks and neglected to comment at the time. This piece is really special, lots of movement, great composition and I love the unusual colors you chose. They really make this piece stand out! I can see why you sold it...the buyer got a fantastic painting. Congratulations!

    1. Thanks, Carol. This was one of those paintings that I hated at first because it just didn't look like what I saw in my mind. Eventually when I stopped looking inside my brain and looked at what was actually on the canvas, I was able to go with it and finish with a successful painting. This is another one that I revisited in order to "fix" it, although just a few days after I finished painting it, not a year and half! The couple tweaks I made transformed it. Funny how that works sometimes (and doesn't work other times...)
