Joel Lane House

You can view and purchase this painting here.

This is the historic Joel Lane house in Raleigh. The house was built in the early 1770s, and has been restored to the original style. When Lane built it, it was in a very rural area - he's the one who worked to get the capital moved from Tryon to Raleigh. Sounds to me like he was just lazy and didn't want to have to travel so far!

It's a beautiful house and the gardens are gorgeous—with typical North Carolina crepe myrtles in bloom.
